As I walked down with them, I was going over my preparation ‘kit’ in my mind. Even I need more gear for this kind of eventuality … loudly singing gospel at angry wildlife, however, is not on that list. Enough other hikers/walkers had gone by, annoying the family of moose. They were standing firm on that spot, for however long that calf laid there.

The only answer was to turn around and backtrack. But what if that was a one-way? I can’t stop prepping for it. If it had been, the route out would have required an overnight. Serious stuff. Worthy of more consideration.
